Hi and welcome. I am Bek Parry, a qualified* and NZ registered nutritionist and healthy living enthusiast. I am passionate about the positive impact healthy living can have on so many aspects of life, and whilst I am a Nutritionist by trade, I firmly believe that in order to live a full, vibrant, healthy and nourished life, we need to be balanced and address all the physical, mental and emotional aspects of our lives, through positive habits regarding our food, exercise, sleep and mental wellbeing.
I am a corporate escapee, leaving behind years of working in offices, surviving the corporate world both in London and NZ and frankly, just not loving what I was doing. I took the plunge and after some amazing time traveling, decided on my new direction. I returned to New Zealand and re-trained in the nutrition and wellness field.
Currently, my time is divided between working; with private clients 1:1, in public health, on workplace wellbeing initiatives and events and I am currently an active council member for the Nutrition Society of NZ, Chair of the Board for The Women's Centre and a Professional Supervisor & Mentor for other Nutritionists in NZ .
In my spare time I can be found attending Boxfit classes, walking the port hills or wandering about our fabulous new inner city having a coffee. If you see me out and about, please do say hi.
Based in Christchurch, NZ, I am available to meet you by appointment.
My Healthy Living Philosophy I truly believe, that there is no one-size-fits all approach to diet or healthy living.
There are a myriad of diets out there that all claim to be the one, or the answer to all your weight woes. We are all unique in so many ways, and I believe it is my role to work with you, to find the best way forward to achieve your health goals. Thus enabling you to take control of your own health and live a positive and nourishing, healthy life in the best way you can. If weight loss is your ultimate goal, I like to remove that from being the primary focus, as I believe too much attention on weighing ourselves and what we 'can' or 'cannot' eat, only serves to make us feel anxious, guilty, deprived and negative, which does no good at all. I prefer to focus on enabling you to develop sustainable healthier habits for life, where just one of the multiple benefits could be weight loss.
I also believe it is important to think positively, make time for yourself and be grateful for what you have and the abundance of beautiful spots we have on our doorstep, here in New Zealand.
Creating positive habits and choices is vital, but remember it's what we do the majority of the time that really makes the greatest impact. It's OK to have that glass of wine or blue cheese with friends too. Life is for living; happily and healthily!
